What’s a Block Drop?

Block Drops are mobile cleanup stations deployed around West Seattle and designed for ease of community engagement. Stations consist of signage, pickup sticks, buckets and bags (usually 5-10 sets of gear depending on site location).

We drop stations off for a set period of time (usually 9am to 5pm), then pick them up at the end of the day and take care of the collected trash with help from our partners at Seattle Public Utilities / Adopt a Street program.

Just show up, use the tools provided and we’ll take care of the rest.

Show off your clean by tagging us on Instagram @block.drops

How Does it Work?
The beauty of these cleanups is they’re on your time — no need to wait for a community event that fits your schedule, simply find our location for the day and engage when it’s convenient for you.

Go it alone for a walking meditation or connect with friends and fellowship. After filling a bucket you can dump directly into a public trash bin or transfer into a yellow Community Cleanup bag back at the station.

It’s the easiest cleanup in town!

Plan Your Own Drop!
Use the form at the bottom of the page to suggest a Drop location or request one in your neighborhood for the day. Organize a group of friends and create your very own Earth Day!

We’ll help tailor your event with neighbors, teammates, coworkers, or other social groups who’d like to get involved. Simply reach out, request a day & time and we’ll make it happen.

Thanks for your interest, we look forward to seeing you at a clean!

Inspired by Scouting

Paige, Evelyn & Emma at a planning meeting.

Block Drops are the creative vision of three West Seattle Girl Scouts who set out to earn their Silver Award Project over the pandemic. This is the highest award given to Cadettes (6th-8th grade), which only ten percent of Girl Scouts achieve.

Paige, Evelyn and Emma developed their project hoping to engage fellow West Seattleites to become the solution to a cleaner community. Their program is a social experiment of sorts that offers daily, passive civics opportunities to live the Scouting ideal of leaving the world a better place than we found it.
