The Ohio State University Buck-I-SERV Cleanup Series.
Day 3, Leisure. Friday’s cleanup will focus on a busy and popular Seattle beach and surrounding neighborhood that gets littered with heavy use by partygoers. Alki is the birthplace of modern day Seattle and of our cleanup group A Cleaner Alki. We welcome OSU students to come do a leisurely clean in this picturesque part of the city and take in all they’ve accomplished in their full week of service in Seattle.
We invite A Cleaner Alki community members to work side-by-side with the students to remove as much of this trash as we can and thanks them for their service.
We’ll dispose of trash as we go in public bins and dumpsters.
The Buck-I-SERV Program
10 Ohio State students and their advisors will be visiting Seattle over the week of May 8-12 and participating in OSU’s Buck-I-SERV service program. A Cleaner Alki was reached out to for service opportunities in our local cleanup scene and we’ve designed a series of three afternoon cleanups that will touch on the program’s emphasis of self reflection, social justice and civic engagement.
Buck-I-SERV is Ohio State University's Alternative Break Program that began as a student initiative with one single trip to New York City in 2003. Since then, the program has grown to provide more than 80 trips per year to over sixteen states and five countries. The mission of Buck-I-SERV is to provide students with a challenging and engaging opportunity to lead and learn through direct service experiences. Their motto is: Travel. Learn. Serve.
