We'll be in between 36th & 37th streets on Genesee. Blackberries and ivy have eaten up the sidewalk and we aim to bring back a nice safe passage through the neighborhood. If we happen to get enough people or we make good time we may also tackle a section of sidewalk right around the corner that would make for an amazing outing.
Cut material will be placed into yard waste bags or we may find areas to place clippings to biodegrade.
I’ll have some tools to start with but if you have hand clippers or trimming tools you use at home, those would be good to bring. I’ll bring rakes, a hedge trimmer, weed whacker, a leaf blower, etc and we’ll build our toolset over time.
Parking: There should be good parking along Genesee and around the neighborhood.
This project was suggested by group member Roxanne and this type of cleanup is inspired by the fine work of the Seattle Street Fixers and group members Jeremy and Conrad who have been doing this type of work for a long time with great success. It seems like a perfect compliment to our other cleanup work so we'll start pairing it up with our other cleans for a broader impact in the community.
