We'll be at the 51st & Grayson street overlook clearing blackberries, morning glory and other recent plant growth. The street end was cleared last Summer to open up a view of the Olympics and Puget Sound but new growth threatens to get out of hand again.

This is a neighborhood cleanup that is being organized by another neighbor but I offered to have our group come help out if anyone was up for it. I believe there will even be coffee and donuts at this one!

Cut material will be placed into yard waste bags or on some of these cleanups we can find areas to place clippings to biodegrade. There is morning glory and blackberries on the top of the overlook which is flat and then other material to work on down the hill for the billygoat types. There are also some other trimming opportunities down 51st if we get more folks than the overlook can accommodate.

I’ll have some tools to start with but if you have hand clippers, kneeling pads and hand tools you use at home, those would be good to bring. I’ll bring rakes, a hedge trimmer, weed whacker, a leaf blower, etc and we’ll build our toolset over time.

Parking: We'll park along 51st or on Grayson between 51st & 50th as the end of the street doesn't have much parking.

This project is inspired by the fine work of the Seattle Street Fixers and group members Jeremy and Conrad who have been doing this type of work for a long time with great success. It seems like a perfect compliment to our other cleanup work so we'll start pairing it up with our other cleans for a broader impact in the community.
