This cleanup will be in and around the Admiral Junction. Lots of trees with overgrown suckers growing out of them encroaching on the sidewalk, foxtail grass and other weeds we can remove.
This will be our second cleanup with an emphasis on sprucing up a neighborhood. Like usual we’ll pick litter as we go, but the main focus will be on tidying up where foliage is encroaching or overtaken sidewalks and reducing visibility, where leaves and debris are clogging storm drains and piling on stairs, or weeds are coming up through cracks and creating hazards. The goal will be to create a safer, tidier environment with curb appeal and better line of sight.
Cut material will be placed into yard waste bags or on some of these cleanups we can find areas to place clippings to biodegrade.
I’ll have some tools to start with but if you have hand clippers, kneeling pads and hand tools you use at home, those would be good to bring. I’ll bring rakes, a hedge trimmer, weed whacker, a leaf blower, etc and we’ll build our toolset over time. We’ll start work at the California & Admiral intersection and spread out from there.
This project is inspired by the fine work of the Seattle Street Fixers and group members Jeremy and Conrad who have been doing this type of work for a long time with great success. It seems like a perfect compliment to our other cleanup work so we'll start pairing it up with our other cleans for a broader impact in the community.
